Why I Built HydrationCalc.net

I started as a clinical dietitian at a Miami hospital, watching elderly patients get readmitted for dehydration — often because nobody had explained fluid needs in a way that stuck. I got my CSSD and started working with triathletes, realizing even elite athletes had no idea how much sodium they lost in sweat. My first hydration calculator was built for an Ironman client who was gaining weight during races from over-drinking plain water. That calculator became this site.

My Approach

I believe hydration is the original biohack. Get it right, and everything works better. Get it wrong, and you’re cramping, bloating, or wondering why your afternoon brain fog won’t lift. I use real data — sweat sodium tests, body-weight calculations, climate adjustments — and I translate it into tools anyone can use.

Outside the Office

I live in a Miami high-rise with two paddleboards and zero plants. I have killed every succulent I’ve ever owned. I paddle Biscayne Bay almost every weekend and I know exactly how much fluid I lose in 85% humidity. I drink my morning 500 mL before coffee, every single day. I’m slightly chaotic, occasionally dehydrated, and serious about electrolytes.
